Botafolia
Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 11, 2026
Botafolia is a plant care journal by Greysalt Studio. This policy explains how the app handles plant records, photos, optional AI requests, permissions, and support messages.
Data Stored On This Device
Plant records, care logs, reminder plans, light readings, notes, and backup files are stored on your device.
Plant photos are stored in the app and may also be saved to the Botafolia photo album when you grant photo-library permission.
Optional AI Features
AI features are optional. Botafolia only sends a plant photo or plant identity for AI processing after you choose an AI action and accept the AI notice.
Plant identification sends the selected plant photo. Care profile generation sends the plant identity, such as common name and scientific name.
AI requests are sent through Botafolia's backend at api.greysalt.studio and processed by OpenAI. Botafolia's backend does not store uploaded plant photos.
AI results are suggestions and may be inaccurate. You can add or edit plant information manually.
Backend Records
Botafolia uses an anonymous app-generated client ID to manage free AI credits, record AI notice consent, and help prevent abuse.
For abuse protection, Botafolia may store rate-limit events using a hashed IP address. Raw IP addresses are not stored by Botafolia.
Permissions
Camera access is used to take plant photos and estimate light.
Photo-library access is used to import photos and save plant photos to the Botafolia album.
Notification permission is used to schedule plant care reminders on your device.
Data Sharing
Botafolia does not sell your personal data.
When you use optional AI features, the data needed for that request is sent to Botafolia's backend and an AI provider to return the requested result.
If you contact support by email, your message and email address are handled by the email provider and used to respond to your request.
Your Choices
You can use Botafolia without AI features.
You can change camera, photo-library, and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
You can delete plants, photos, notes, care logs, and light readings from within the app.
